Approving Agreement Between JusticeText, Inc. and Kane County Public Defender for Audiovisual Evidence Management Platform

WHEREAS, pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4-4014, the County of Kane has received funds from the Illinois Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts for the Kane County Public Defender’s Office and public defender services; and
WHEREAS, JusticeText is an audiovisual evidence management platform for public defenders that expedites the review of body-camera footage, interrogation videos, jail calls, and other digital discovery; and
WHEREAS, JusticeText allows for quick and effective editing of videos for court presentation and generates transcripts both in English and other languages; and
WHEREAS, JusticeText will allow attorneys in the Public Defender’s Office to effectively and efficiently carry out their duties to their clients and to the court; and
WHEREAS, the Public Defender’s Office has considered a potential alternative provider, and when compared JusticeText is the cost-effective option to provide these particular services for the Public Defender’s Office; and
WHEREAS, an extended contract between the Public Defender’s Office and JusticeText will save the county $4,000 over 3 years; and
WHEREAS, based on the foregoing reasons, it is necessary for the Kane County Board to ratify and approve the agreement between JusticeText, Inc. and the Kane County Public Defender, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that Madam Chair approve the attached agreement between JusticeText, Inc. and the Kane County Public Defender.
