Authorizing Job Position and Title Changes for the Kane County Division of Transportation

WHEREAS, Kane County established the Compensation and Position Management Policy by Resolution 23-541 requiring position and job title changes for the Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) to be approved by the Transportation Committee, Finance and Budget Committee, Human Services Committee, Executive Committee and Kane County Board; and
WHEREAS, the current position is within the approved fiscal year 2024 budget and KDOT is requesting a mid-year change of the existing position and job title to address the department’s organizational needs in order to provide for the safety of the public and enhance the efficient movement of all modes of transportation; and
WHEREAS, KDOT identified the need to eliminate the existing position of “Deputy Chief of Staff” (Position # 952012013) and to create a new “Highway Maintainer I” (Position # 952017070); and
WHEREAS, the Maintenance Department need of an additional Highway Maintainer has been prioritized by KDOT to address operational changes and additional roadway miles being added to the County Highway System (Longmeadow, etc.); and
WHEREAS, safety is KDOT’s number one priority and KDOT is taking the steps necessary to address increased distracted/aggressive driving while also maintaining the same level of service that the public has come to know and expect; and
WHEREAS, the position and job title changes are within KDOT’s budgeted expenses for fiscal year 2024 and require no additional funds or budget adjustments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Kane County Human Resources Department and Kane County Finance Department are authorized and directed to eliminate the existing position of “Deputy Chief of Staff” (Position # 952012013), and to create the new position of “Highway Maintainer I” (Position # 952017070).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Department Heads, Human Resources Department, and Finance Department, are authorized to execute any documentation as needed to carry out the personnel policy changes pursuant to this resolution.
