Authorizing Acceptance of the National Association of County and City Health Officials Adaptation of Project First Line Tools & Resources by Local Health Departments Grants (APFLTR-LHD)

WHEREAS, the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) in partnership with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Project Firstline, a comprehensive infection control program designed to help prevent the spread of infectious disease in U.S. healthcare settings through promotion of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. Project Firstline is a collaborative committed to preparing the public health workforce and frontline healthcare workers to protect themselves, their patients, and their communities from infectious disease threats; and

 

WHEREAS, the Project Firstline offers resources, training, and capacity building for accurate and effective implementation of IPC practices, with topics ranging from hand hygiene to personal protective equipment to vaccination. The initiative helps frontline healthcare workers confidently understand and practice IPC to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases in a variety of healthcare settings. A significant component of NACCHO's Project Firstline work is to build the capacity of health departments to deliver training and education to their community facility partners by developing and promoting tools and resources related to IPC activities. As part of these efforts, NACCHO with support from CDC, is pleased to offer this technical assistance and funding opportunity to LHDs to implement an adapt Project Firstline tools and resources to support IPC work in their jurisdiction's healthcare facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, grant funding from the National Association of County & City Health Officials for the Infection Prevention & Control Adaptation of Project Firstline Tools and Resources by Local Health Departments has been awarded to the Health Department in the amount of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00); and

 

WHEREAS, the Infection Prevention & Control Learning Collaborative Project Grant is to enhance the KCHD’s capacity to support LTCFs in improving their infection and prevention control practice, by providing a dedicated infection prevention team to support LTCFs in Kane County; so

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is hereby authorized to enter into said grant agreement with the National Association of County & City Health Officials.
