Authorizing an Agreement for Architect, Engineer & CMR Services Contracts with Wight & Company, Valdes Architecture & Engineering, Kluber Architects & Engineers, Wold Architects & Engineers, Gilbane Building Company, R.C. Wegman Construction Company, Interface Engineering, and Nurture Architects for the Building Management Department (RFP# 26-007-TK)

WHEREAS, proposals have been solicited for the Kane County Building Management Department Architect, Engineer & CMR Services (RFP# 26-007-TK). A total of fifteen (15) proposals were received by the February 6, 2026 deadline; and
WHEREAS, eight (8) highest-ranked vendors were chosen as finalists, and per a meticulous screening process, those respondents were thoroughly reviewed, scored, and their qualifications vetted. It has been determined that it is in the best interest of the County to award multiple contracts for the Architect, Engineer & CMR Services between these eight highest-ranked and most qualified bidders, in no particular order, 1.) Wight & Company, of Darien, IL, 2.) Valdes Architecture & Engineering, of Lombard, IL, 3.) Kluber Architects & Engineers of Aurora, IL, 4.) Wold Architects & Engineers, of Palatine, IL, 5.) Gilbane Building Company, of Chicago, IL, 6.) R.C. Wegman Construction Company of Aurora, IL, 7.) Interface Engineering, of Chicago, IL, and 8.) Nurture Architects of Chicago, IL; and
WHEREAS, these eight (8) vendors’ contracts will be for the provision of Architect, Engineer & CMR Services at various on-site projects at all Kane County facilities on an “as needed” basis as indicated in the contract; and
WHEREAS, all project assignments will be made in accordance with and within Kane County budgetary constraints at the discretion of the Building Management Department; and
WHEREAS, in the event, that due to unforeseen circumstances, any of the firms is either disqualified or relationship(s) severed, the County reserves the right to choose a new Firm(s) from the original list of original submittals from RFP# 26-007-TK; and
WHEREAS, each of these performance-based contracts are for two (2) years and will include three (3) additional one (1) year options for renewal, to be mutually agreed upon by all parties. The initial contract terms will begin on or about May 12, 2026 for a two (2) year term through May 11, 2028. Kane County reserves the right to change the commencement and/or end of the contract periods as well as the scope of services to be provided; and
WHEREAS, these are all multi-year contracts and accordingly, combined “not to exceed” fund amounts of Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars ($700,000) has been budgeted for these eight (8) contracts, and are available in the FY2026 budget; and
WHEREAS, these eight (8) vendors contracts call for the use of funds beyond the present budget year and the County of Kane acknowledges the necessity of the appropriation of such funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is hereby authorized and directed to execute simultaneous contracts with 1.) Wight & Company, 2500 North Frontage Road, Darien, IL 60561, 2.) Valdes Architecture & Engineering, 100 West 22nd Street, Suite 185, Lombard, IL 60148, 3.) Kluber Architects & Engineers, 41 W. Benton Street, Aurora, IL 60506, 4.) Wold Architects & Engineers, 220 N. Smith Street, Suite 310, Palatine, IL 60067, 5.) Gilbane Building Company, 123 N. Wacker Drive, 26th Floor, Chicago, IL 60606, 6.) R.C. Wegman Construction Company, 750 Morton Avenue, Aurora, IL 60506, 7.) Interface Engineering, 100 S. Wacker Drive, Suite 1140, Chicago, IL 60606, and 8.) Nurture Architects, 314 West Institute Places Suite 1E Chicago, IL 60610 for Architect, Engineer & CMR Services contracts for a combined not to exceed amount of Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars ($700,000) per fiscal year.
