Authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the County of Kane, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Board of Education of Kaneland Community Unit School District 302 for the Provision of a School Resource Officer

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office has reviewed the Intergovernmental Agreement to provide for a School Resource Officer at Kaneland Community Unit School District 302 (aka the School District); and
WHEREAS, the agreement provides for the School Board to pay the Sheriff's Office half the actual cost of the School Resource Officer (SRO) employment on an hourly basis (based on wages, benefits, and the cost of general liability and workers' compensation insurance). Half the initial hourly rate of pay, inclusive of benefits, shall be Thirty-Eight Dollars and 42/100 ($38.42) per hour. The School District is also responsible for half of any overtime pay if the officer works in excess of a forty (40) hour workweek for the School District. Half the initial overtime rate of pay shall be Thirty-Four Dollars and 68/100 ($34.68); and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office will invoice the School District on an annual basis for the salary (regular and overtime pay) of the Deputy Sheriff assigned to the School District; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office has determined that it is in the best interest to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (on file in the County Clerk’s Office) with the School District to provide for a School Resource Officer for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board, that the Chairman thereof and the Sheriff of Kane County are hereby authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Board of Education of Kaneland Community Unit School District No 302 for the provision of a School Resource Officer.
