Authorizing Emergency Appropriation and Budget Adjustment for the State’s Attorney’s Office in the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget General Fund

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 6-1003 of the Counties Code (55 ILCS 5/6-1003), after adoption of the county budget, additional appropriations to meet an immediate emergency may be made following a two-thirds vote of all members constituting such board; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board passed Ordinance No. 25-387, adopting the Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Appropriations and Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board passed Ordinance No. 25-447, approving an emergency appropriation and budget adjustment to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget; and
WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 2025, the State’s Attorney’s Office performance in the General Fund was under budget by approximately $167,000 (One Hundred Sixty-Seven Thousand Dollars); and
WHEREAS, an adjustment to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget is required to adjust the appropriation for the State’s Attorney’s Office in the General Fund by $150,000 (One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars); and
WHEREAS, the State’s Attorney’s Office respectfully requests this budget and appropriation adjustment, which constitutes an emergency for purposes of 55 ILCS 5/6-1003, as the State’s Attorney is required to perform several statutory duties for public safety purposes in Kane County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes the emergency appropriation and adjustment to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget:
