Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the Village of Campton Hills and the County of Kane for Mutual Cooperation to Ensure Transportation Planning and the Safe and Efficient Flow of Traffic Along the Corridors for Bunker Road, LaFox Road, and Keslinger Road

WHEREAS, the Illinois Constitution of 1970, Article VII, Section 10 and 5 ILCS 220/1 et seq. authorizes the County of Kane (hereinafter the “County”) and the Village of Campton Hills (hereinafter the “Village”) to cooperate in the performance of their respective duties and responsibilities by contract and other agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County has jurisdiction over Bunker Road, LaFox Road, and Keslinger Road and is presently constructing the Bunker Road Extension Project, including an underpass of the Union Pacific Railroad and a connection to LaFox Road; and
WHEREAS, the County and the Village desire to improve safety, efficiency, and vehicular and pedestrian movement within the corridors of Bunker Road, LaFox Road, and Keslinger Road and coordinate transportation planning, access management, and infrastructure improvements within the subject area; and
WHEREAS, the County and the Village have negotiated an intergovernmental agreement setting forth their respective duties, obligations, and responsibilities related to transportation planning, access control, roadway improvements, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and future jurisdictional transfers related to the subject area; and
WHEREAS, the County and the Village find that entering into said intergovernmental agreement will promote the public health, safety, and welfare and facilitate the safe and efficient flow of traffic throughout the subject area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board hereby approves an intergovernmental agreement between the Village of Campton Hills and the County of Kane for mutual cooperation to ensure transportation planning and the safe and efficient flow of traffic along the corridors of Bunker Road, LaFox Road, and Keslinger Road, and that the Kane County Board Chairman is hereby authorized and directed to execute said intergovernmental agreement therefor.
