Authorizing a One-Year Contract Extension with Wellpath, LLC, for Kane County Jail Medical Services

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office executed a three-year contract with two optional one-year extensions beginning December 1, 2022, with Wellpath, LLC, of Franklin, TN, for required detainee medical care services pursuant to 730 ILCS 125/17 and as authorized by Resolution 22-344; and
WHEREAS, with the three-year contract concluding on November 30, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office found it expedient to exercise the option for the first one-year extension to continue services by Wellpath, LLC, for the period covering December 1, 2025, through November 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Justice Center Command and the State’s Attorney’s Office negotiated this first one-year extension with Wellpath and reached a mutual agreement that includes changes to nursing staff to better serve detainee needs; and
WHEREAS, the new annual base pay negotiated for services in FY 2026 is $4,615,922.62, to be paid from 001.380.382.50210 Jail Medical/Dental/Hospital Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes and directs the Kane County Sheriff and the Kane County Board Chair to enter into the negotiated one-year contract extension with Wellpath, LLC, of Franklin, TN, for detainee medical services at the base pay of $4,615,922.62 beginning December 1, 2025, and ending November 30, 2026.
