Resolution Authorizing a Bid for Native Seed Purchase to Restore Lands at Various Preserves

WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois, that the District desires to restore lands through a purchase of native seed for conversion of agricultural lands, prairie restoration, woodland restoration, and habitat creation; and
WHEREAS, native plants are the basis of all native ecosystems and therefore are the basis of our work in the Natural Resource Management department; and
WHEREAS, bids have been solicited and received for the purchase of native seed, and the lowest qualified bids were received from Agrecol, RES Great Lakes, Spence Restoration Nursery, and Shooting Star Native Seed for Projects 1, 2, 3, and 4 as listed below:
Project 1 - Agrecol LLC - 11 species: Bid of $17,167.25 RES Great Lakes - 14 species: Bid of $18,478.25 Spence Restoration Nursery - 37 species: Bid of $47,278.40 Shooting Star Native Seed - 29 species: Bid of $36,688.69
Total: 91 species - $119,612.59

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois, that the qualified, lowest bids by Shooting Star Nursery in the amount of $81,932.07, Agrecol in the amount of $73,227.75 , RES Great Lakes in the amount of $54,120.75, and Spence Restoration Nursery in the amount of $119,008.08, as listed above, for the purchase of native seed for the conversion of agricultural lands, prairie restoration, woodland restoration, and habitat creation in the total amount of $328,288.65 be, and hereby are, accepted and approved.
