Authorizing the Director of Emergency Management to Enter into Emergency & Disaster Shelter Memorandums of Understanding

WHEREAS, the Office of Emergency Management is responsible for providing shelter to Kane County residents who have been displaced from their homes during times of emergency or disaster; and
WHEREAS, Kane County has no County-owned buildings suitable for such purposes; and
WHEREAS, owners & operators of privately -owned facilities have indicated willingness to temporarily allow the use of their buildings for shelters and other support purposes; and
WHEREAS, establishing a Memorandums of Understanding between the County and prospective shelter facilities is desirable to provide clarity surrounding the use of facilities, right of refusal, compensation, liability, and other issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board approves of the attached Memorandum of Understanding; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the Director of the Kane County Office of Emergency Management is hereby authorized to execute individual Memorandums of Understanding on behalf of the County of Kane, using the form attached hereto, with owners of prospective shelter buildings.
